Why was RE7 so good? ›

The game was highly praised for its shift in perspective and minimalistic approach, which brought the franchise back to its horror roots, almost entirely abandoned as the Resident Evil universe leaned ever more on action pieces.

Part of what makes Resident Evil 7 so scary is its array of villains and enemies. Whether it be killer insects or a marauding member of the Baker family, the shadows always carry a promise of danger.

Even on a regular playthrough, 7 is just more consistently "scary".

Purely as a videogame, in terms of mechanics, RE2 is a better game. As an EXPERIENCE though, they are similar in some ways and different enough in others to not warrant saying that RE7 is just 'an inferior RE2', because it isn't.

Resident Evil 7 Biohazard contains different Endings based on different criteria, and can offer additional or changed ending cinematics, and even add or remove additional encounters.

The difficulty is chosen when starting a new file and can not be changed mid-game. There are three settings, “Easy”, “Normal”, and “Madhouse”. Easy and Normal use the same enemy and key item layout, with the differences being how much health enemies have and how much damage they do.

The biggest difference between RE7 and RE2 is the camera of course and for me it made all the difference in how scary the game felt for me. Seeing right in front of you one of the family members come around a corner was a frightening thing in RE7 and it made the game all the more scarier for it.

Resident Evil 6 had the characters and basically nothing else. It took itself much too seriously, spanning across the globe with multiple campaigns intent on removing any and all feelings of horror.

When focusing on the main objectives, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard - Banned Footage Vol. 1 is about 1½ Hours in length. If you're a gamer that strives to see all aspects of the game, you are likely to spend around 4½ Hours to obtain 100% completion.

Resident Evil 6 is not only tame in terms of scares, but it will also likely bore players throughout the campaign. It goes too big and ends up feeling dull despite attempts at epic set pieces.

Is Resident Evil 7 or 8 harder? ›

The entire segment with Lucas in RE7 was harder than any single puzzle in RE8, including the one in the doll house. I'm going to just assume one of us is crazy because in my experience (again, having actually remembered and recently replayed RE7, which you claim not to even fully remember) that is just not true.

The first game of the series, Resident Evil, was released in 1996 for PlayStation 1 and the franchise is one of Capcom's all-time best-sellers.

Not only is Resident Evil 7 easily the scariest game in the series, but it also released at a time when the franchise desperately needed to find itself and return to its horror-fueled roots.

After a playthrough of both games, RE7 feels like a more focused experience with a heavy emphasis on survival horror. RE Village tries to do a lot of things at once to please the horror and action fans but ends up impressing none.

So, when “Resident Evil 7: Biohazard” released, it was not only a commercial and critical success for Capcom, but the start of their seven-year streak of making excellent video games again.

Yes it does have gory and disturbing scenes but as long as your child is at least a teen, this game is for them.
